About Amy and VolvoxAureus

me

Hi, I'm Amy! I'm a librarian and artist. I've been working in libraries for about 12 years, and making pottery for about 10. My most recent and influential teacher is Richard Brandt (you can see his work here). I studied with Richard at PCC's Mt Tabor campus, where great group of artists use PCC's community ed classes and open studio to make beautiful ceramic work. It's a fantastic environment where we can learn from many good teachers and from each other. Over the years I've also studied at Georgie's and the Fire Arts Center in Arcata California. Since Spring 2009, I've been woodfiring with a great group of potters at Jay Widmer's anagama, Digger Mountain, outside of Alsesa, OR.

In addition to pottery, I love to kayak. If it's a sunny weekend (sometimes even if it's not), chances are you'll find me out on the river. I work as a librarian for engineers, a job that pays for my pottery addiction and challenges me in a very different way.
